Der Gebirgsjäger
Unit History

This WWII historical re-enactment unit was formed to portray the 5th Mountain Infantry (Gebirgsjäger) Division as it would have appeared in 1943 –1945. Our goal is to remember, recreate and honor the history and memories of the men that served their respective countries in a war that changed the world forever. We have been a unit for over twenty years and our policy is to maintain very high authenticity standards in order to present the correct visual impression of a typical WWII German combat mountain trooper. We strive to maintain a high degree of historical accuracy, which in turn gives us a very good reputation in this hobby.

Pieter und Friedrich take a quick break while moving through some very rugged terrain. Notice the rucksacks and climbing ropes. Also notice that Pieter is not the MG gunner, he was "volunteered" to help carry the MG-42.

I would like to congratulate Dieter on his promotion to Unteroffizerantwarter. He has really stepped up and proven himself to be a leader, always putting the unit first and never asking someone else to do something he himself would not do first. Congratulations! Our Dennison work party was a big success. We hope to be done with phase I of our very extensive Bunker and Trench system by the August show at Dennison. When it is done it will cover nearly an acre of land. You have to see it to believe it! A big thank you to those that helped out and to the Dennison Depot.
